El Rey in Auburn

I've never been disappointed in the food. The crab fajita quesadilla tonight was delicious-far better than I expected.

Just stopped in and grabbed a to go order of nachos for my girl. My first judgement on a Mexican restaurant is their chips and salsa. I love a good chunky, spicy salsa, but a lot of people don't. El Ray did a great job meeting this line. Also they have multi color chips which is fun imo. The Texas nachos were superb.

It was actually really good. Very prompt waiters and waitresses. Overall good experience.

Great place, friendly staff and food. Can't wait to go back again. Large amounts of food, but with a large party may take a few extra minutes to setup.

Realistically speaking, I am a tough critic of Mexican food. No, I’m not Hispanic, but I am from Los Angeles so I know what authentic Mexican should taste like and what it should not... This is my first time at this place and honestly. I’m underwhelmed. Dining alone so I opted to sit at the bar, and it took a while for someone to get my order. Fine, I didn’t mind it. But when I order table-side guacamole (which is supposed to be the most fresh) and I receive some slop that tastes like nothing more than lime... Very unimpressed. When I sent the guacamole back the staff didn’t even ask why or what could they do to make it better, this is my first time coming here and I won’t be back. I really tried to give this place a chance! Fajitas were good but I can’t get this intense taste out of my mouth to really know. I’ll stick with my regular, Sol Restaurant in Montgomery (a must try)

Good Mexican restaurant friendly staff

Chile relleno was reheated, tasted like the freezer. Chips and salsa was decent. Steak bland. Overall higher prices. Probably good to grab drinks but overall not impressed.

Everytime I come to El Rey, I'm always pleased. For a salad, this dish was amazing. So delicious. And the Pitcher specials for happy hour? AMAZING! Order the Grilled Salad with shrimp. You won't regret it.

El Rey is a pretty good place to get your Mexican fix! Chips and cheese dip are solid and the California burrito is very good and filling. The Margaritas could use some work, they do taste a little watered down and the flavor isn't what I would consider a great margarita, but it's not terrible. The quesadillas are massive and very very good, and I haven't had a bad fajita there yet. All in all a great place to eat!

Good solid Mexican food, they do add a service charge for to-go orders. Friendly Staff!

Great place to go out to eat on a Friday or Saturday night. The service was amazing! We were seated immediately and the waiter even changed the channel for me on the tv so I could watch the game. The food was actually really good and served quickly. I would definitely go back for another good dinner before a night out.

The food here is always excellent.And they give me the best service.

The service was a little slow, but the staff was very friendly. The food tasted pretty good. I had the burrito blanco which had a lot of great flavor, but I was expecting the veggies to be cooked and was a little disappointed that they weren't. All in all I liked it.

Street Tacos Pastor were delicious. One of the only places around that serves them and worth the ride down

Very good, my wife and I ordered the Texas fajitas for two. When the plate came to the table I was wondering how we were going to eat it all. Massive portion sizes. Give this place a try if you havent. This was our first time and will not be our last.

Food and drinks were good. A little frustrated about the price of margarita. We were told that they were $8. Got our bill and they $16 a piece. They used Patron. It was a misunderstanding, but frustrating because we definitely didn’t plan on paying $16 on a drink. That was basically the whole cost of our meal if the drink wouldn’t have been $16. :/

A great place for sure. Minutes from the mall an excellent selection of "authentic" and "American" favorites. Lovely, comfortable atmosphere. Several TV's throughout. I love the green chips!

Probably one of the best Mexican restaurants here! This new restaurant might have higher prices on some foods but you truly get what you paid for. I am surprised they made my favorite meal better than ever. More spices and flavors than I expected. Will be returning.

Jorge is great, clean restaurant one of my top three choices for Mexican food.

Table side guacamole with everything in it was outstanding. Also, try the Fajita Azteca and you won’t be disappointed!!!!!! Ask for Jorge and he’ll take very good care of your group!!!

Very friendly staff. Food was great. I usually judge my favorite Mexican places from the salsa, I can highly recommend cause I really liked the salsa. Raspberry marg was really tasty. One of the better Mexican places in Auburn.

Excellent food and wonderful service. Great portion sizes and priced well. They have something for everyone. They have plenty of non Mexican choices to choose from espically on the kids meals.

Pretty good! There are lots of Mexican restaurants in Auburn but this one is in the top half for sure. Might go back and try again

I’m pretty sure every server didn’t want to be here tonight. They were more concerned talking to each other than waiting tables. I was wondering why this place wasn’t very busy on a Friday night. We saw our server maybe twice, MAYBE. I finally had to get up and go pay at the bar, because she wasn’t coming over to our table. Food was ok at best. Our cheese dip was lumpy and not very hot. Overall, not impressed; mostly by the wait staff.

There are about 100 Mexican style restaurants in Auburn. This is the best one. My 5 year old daughter and I love El Rey! She likes the colorful tortilla chips. I like the delicious food and the affordable prices.

4 star food, 3 star margaritas, and we were interrupted to buy things and asked to donate money by someone going from table to table.

Great service and staff. The building is nearly keep and inviting. I would recommend this place for great food. The prices fits all budgets.

Favorite Mexican restaurant in auburn. Good portion sizes for the $ and friendly staff. I have been here many many times and never once had a bad experience. Abraham is the best

Food was amazing, as always. First time coming here for lunch, and it was my friend's first time eating there. She ordered the lunch enchiladas and I had the Pollo Loco lunch specials. Plenty of food for a great price! Service was extremely fast as well. Front start to finish, we were out in about 35 mins!

Prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. The salsa is also very good.

Horrible food, service was slow, food had no flavor, place was really dirty, dust everywhere, no napkins. Won’t be going here again.
